Hi Blog. I have really neglected you lately. Actually, I decided that I was never going to write to you again. Just make a clean break with it all. But after I decided to do that I started obsessing about you, wondering if anyone still tried to read you. Wondering if anyone would notice if I wrote on you again. So here I am. And well Blog, I guess that I have to say that I love you. I mean, it is totally one of those love hate relationships, but along with the hate there is the LOVE.

So, here is what is new with my life. I still live in Durham. I really like my job. I am learning my way around the human genome and am learning to work with DNA. It is quite exciting. I never thought I would think this about DNA but boy was I wrong.

I got rid of my desk that I hated because it was one of those kind that you buy at Office Depot/Max and then put together yourself. I mean, it is not a bad desk, just an old one that I am tired of. I have had it for about 8 years. Maybe more. Who knows. Anyway, it is gone out of my life. And I got a new one to replace it. Actually, it is an old one. I got it from the Duke Surplus store. They were having a sale and then because I am and employee, I got even more of a discount and long story short, a kick ass metal desk with a pull out, wind up typewriter tray is now mine and it only cost 26 dollars. I also got a blue vinyl chair and I sat in it today to read some thesis papers. It is totally the most jamming place to sit while reading thesis papers.

I went to the doctor and I have determined that I don't have a thyroid problem and my iron levels are ok and I am not sick. So the reason I feel bad lately is just because I do. So that was totally a relief. I am one of these psycho obsessive people and I was sure it was something horrible. But they assured me that it was not. So, I will live yet another day.

I have started reading the Life of Pi and it is really good. I think that I am going to return to my routine of reading it every night for about 30 minutes or so so I can finally finish it. Damn I am so totally slack.

So, here is a new section for my blog:
Notes about people in the world (or people I work in the following case.)

The other day, we were walking to work from the shuttle stop and I was remarking on how cold it was and how I wished I had taken the time to dry my hair because my head was getting really cold. My coworker then looked at me and was really concerned and said that she really hoped I was not going to catch a cold. So I said, "Looks like I'll be ok. Don't see any germs 'round here." (and yes I really talk like that, so what's it to you?) And she replied, all serious like, "I mean because your hair is wet and it is cold out." And I guess that what makes it the saddest is that she was formerly in an Immunology PhD track.
